100 years "Oldies" decided to play Rugby...

It was one century ago as R G H - Rugby club had been founded in 1919 as the part of Rudergesselschaft Heidelberg 1889. e.V. (Heidleberg Rowing association).

Now, 100 years after on the occassion of the Centennial celebrations, the Club leaders headed by the president Nick Kunze, decide to form organized Veteran team.

The "young" oldie, Stefan Schmitt, RGH member and the player since he was 6, accepted this "task" with great enthusiasm. More than 80 former players showed the interest to join and support the Team/Club, on March 22nd when the "preparations", under Rudolf Finsterer - Bazi, former German National Coach, had started . . .

The first "test" was at the local EVRA tournament "Heidelberg Oldies Frühling" on April 5/6th, this time the Tournament organised by TSV Handschshusheim Rugby Oldies.

RGH vets, themselves, with the support of Rugby Union Baden-Württemberg and EVRA, will host the XVII Georg Holek Cup - traditional International veteran tournament, on October 3rd - 6th 2019This Tournament will be the part of the whole Centennial celebrations programme.

RGH Oldies are thinking of introducing "their Memorail Veteran Tournament" to honour some of exceptional rugby personalities that "served" RGH rugby for many decades . . .

Be welcomed - RGH Oldies to the European Veteran Rugby "Family" . . .
